Meet the Instructor
Sensei CJ (Colt Savard) is a passionate martial artist, who truly believes anyone can benefit from practicing martial arts. Mr. Colt was just like any other 90’s boy, loved tv shows like the “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers” and “Dragonball & Dragonball Z”, as well as movies such as “The Karate Kid” 1,2,3, and the “3 Ninjas” 1,2,3. There were much more influences but too many to list! Because of being bullied, he started karate at the local recreation department at the age of 5.
With literal blood, lots of sweat, and an ocean of tears, he earned his Jr. Black Belt in Seidokan Karate at the age of 12. In 2012, Jody Paul, of International Seidokan Motobu-ryu Rengokai , presented Mr. Colt his 3rd Degree Black Belt.
After graduating high school in 2013, Mr. Colt left for the United States Air Force. Since Seidokan is a very small oragnization, he wasn’t able to continue his training in Seidokan, but he still practiced and ventured into other martial arts. He trained in ITF Taekwondo, Shotokan Karate, Wing Chun, and earned his Shodan (First Degree Black Belt) in Seitei Iaido. His goal was not to try and obtain high level ranking in these systems, but wanted to collaborate, compare, and learn the differences between the arts and see what made them unique.
Mr. Colt was awarded his 4th Dan (4th Degree) Black Belt in 2021, and became sponsored by the Ryu Koku Seidokan Karate Kobudo Renmei (RSKKR) to open a dojo. In 2022, Zenbudo Dojo was established. His next step is to earn his Shihan License (Master Instructor’s License from Okinawa) to where he no longer needs a sponsorship.
Today, Mr. Colt still trains with other martial artists in different arts/styles, such as Goshin Ha, Shito Ryu, Matsabuyashi Ryu, Cuong Nhu, Yoshukai, and more. He is also advancing in his personal martial arts journey by learning more depth of kickboxing, Iaido, and Gracie Jiu Jitsu. In addition, he is learning a rare Shuri Te system known as KishimotoDi, with the purpose to help preserve the knowledge before possible loss. To become more in depth in regards to Okinawan Weapons (Kobudo) Mr. Colt is learning and ranking in the Okinawan Kenpo Kobudo system. Mr. Colt is also a Lifetime Member with the “International Neoclassical Karate Kobudo Society” (INKKS)
