Meet the Instructor
Sensei CJ (Colt Savard) is a passionate martial artist, who truly believes anyone can benefit from practicing martial arts. Mr. Colt was just like any other 90’s boy, loved tv shows like the “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers” and “Dragonball & Dragonball Z”, as well as movies such as “The Karate Kid” 1,2,3, and the “3 Ninjas” 1,2,3. There were much more influences but too many to list! Because of being bullied, he started karate at the local recreation department at the age of 5.
With literal blood, lots of sweat, and an ocean of tears, he earned his Jr. Black Belt in Seidokan Karate at the age of 12. In 2012, Jody Paul, of International Seidokan Motobu-ryu Rengokai , presented Mr. Colt his 3rd Degree Black Belt.
After graduating high school in 2013, Mr. Colt left for the United States Air Force. Since Seidokan is a very small oragnization, he wasn’t able to continue his training in Seidokan, but he still practiced and ventured into other martial arts. He trained in ITF Taekwondo, Shotokan Karate, Wing Chun, and earned his Sho-Dan (1st Degree Black Belt) in ZNKR Seitei Iaido. His goal was not to try and obtain high level ranking in these systems, but wanted to collaborate, compare, and learn the differences between the arts and see what made them unique.
Mr. Colt holds the rank of Yon-Dan (4th Degree Black Belt) in Okinawan Seidokan Karate & Kobudo, and has earned a Menkyo, or official teaching license, authorizing him to pass on the Seidokan teachings. He has also been awarded the honorary title of Shihan, which means “exemplary teacher”, a recognition of both his skill and dedication to preserving and sharing the art. In addition, Mr. Colt is training for his Sho-Dan (1st Degree Black Belt) in Okinawan Kenpo Kobudo to deepen his knowledge and proficiency in traditional Okinawan weapons.
Mr. Colt remains an active student in the martial arts, continuously training with practitioners from variety of styles including Goshin Ha, Shito Ryu, Matsubayashi Ryu, Cuong Nhu, Yoshukai, and any others he is able to connect with. When time permits, he is expanding his skill set by studying Kickboxing, Iaido (Japanese Swordsmanship), and Gracie Jiu Jitsu.
As part of his commitment to preserving traditional arts, Mr. Colt is also training in KishimotoDi, a rare ShuriTe based system, with the goal of helping safeguard its teachings for future generations.
Mr. Colt is also a proud Lifetime Member of the International Neoclassical Karate Kobudo Society (INKKS).
