Kosei Sho / Dai
The Kosei Karate class is designed for neurodivergent students who benefit from a more structured and supportive learning environment. Classes follow a consistent routine with clear expectations, allowing students to better focus, feel secure, and engage with training. Instruction is paced to the individual, using clear demonstrations, simple cues, and repetition to support different learning and sensory needs.
This class maintains the same standards, values, and a modified curriculum of Zenbudo Seidokan Karate while adapting how material is taught. Students develop physical skills, self-discipline, coordination, and confidence through traditional karate training, with adjustments made to help each student succeed. The goal of the Kosei class is to provide meaningful martial arts instruction in an environment where students can learn effectively, build independence, and take pride in their progress.
What is Kosei?
refers to the individuality and natural traits of each person. At Zenbudo Dojo, Kosei means recognizing that every student learns, processes information, and develops skills in their own way. Training honors these individual differences while maintaining clear structure, consistent expectations, and traditional karate standards. By respecting Kosei, the dojo focuses on helping each student grow in confidence, discipline, and ability, allowing them to progress through martial arts in a way that supports who they are while following the same path and values as all students. “Sho” means smaller or minor, just to signify this class is for the age group of 7 to 12. “Dai” means greater or major, this is to signify that the “Dai” class is for age group of 13 and older.
